Director Verification

🚨Companies House just made it clear they're serious about director identity verification.

On 17 September, the Insolvency Service announced the first court convictions for Companies House identity verification offences. 

Three directors were fined. 

The thing to note is that one of those directors had already verified themselves but was still prosecuted because they failed to take reasonable steps to stop an unverified fellow director from continuing to act. 

Director identity verification is no longer something to add to the bottom of the to-do list. It's now being actively enforced.

What does this mean for directors?
✔ All directors must complete identity verification. 
✔ Existing directors will need to provide their personal verification code with their company's next Confirmation Statement. 
✔ A company cannot file its Confirmation Statement unless all directors have been verified.
